Gary and Judy Bayer live in Colorado Springs where they are involved in both local parish-based ministry and also in various national and international initiatives of Emmaus Journey. The Bayers, previously from Detroit, MI, have been involved as a couple in ministries of evangelization and discipleship since 1998. In Michigan, they were actively involved in facilitating and leading fruitful evangelistic and disciple-making activities among their Spanish-speaking friends and neighbors and also within Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, an urban parish in southwest Detroit. For five years, Judy taught English as a Second Language (ESL) as an outreach and service to Mexican women in the inner city. Together, Gary and Judy have helped to address the social and spiritual needs of their urban neighbors and friends by coordinating various neighborhood initiatives and advocating for the needs of Hispanic families in their neighborhood. With their move to Colorado Springs, Gary is afforded the opportunity to use his gifts and abilities in working closely with Rich Cleveland, who directs Emmaus Journey, to think, plan and implement several new national and international ministry initiatives.
Current Update
In the coming months I will be visiting friends of Emmaus Journey in several areas of the U.S. to talk about the Emmaus Journey ministry of evangelization and disciple formation, and to explain the opportunities we have for ministry. Please pray for the ability to communicate well all that God is doing and that people will desire to become involved in supporting these initiatives.
